Estates Project Director
Location - Ringwood / Edinburgh
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Estates Project Director to join our team and contribute to the success of our renewable energy projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and innovative industry, supporting projects across the UK and collaborating with international teams.

Within the context of renewable energy projects in the UK and under the supervision of the UK Commercial Director:
Based out of our brand new Ringwood office, the Estates Project Director will work closely with several teams including the wider Origination team, Development and Deployment, Construction and O&M teams.
Travel between Boralex’s UK offices in England and Scotland and development sites with limited travel to France for corporate events.
Demonstrated success at meeting deadlines and able to deliver on SMART objectives.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical people and the use of active listening skills is a key requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
o Secure negotiated property agreements within commercial constraints of the project and enable the development, construction and operation of all projects with a focus on reducing whole life cycle costs
o Work with leadership and internal/ external stakeholders to grow the company’s portfolio through the identification of new renewable development opportunities throughout the UK
o Engage with potential new landowners and act as point of contact with the appointed land agent for all onshore property agreements relating primarily to wind projects
o Implement the site finding strategy to grow and maintain the pipeline of future UK projects
o Identify all the required property agreements for a project, such as Option & Lease, Access, Wayleave, Easement, Oversail/Overrun Agreements and HMP agreements (further referred to as ‘the agreements’)
o Negotiate appropriate terms which balance risk, quality and cost commensurate with the need of the project and within the internal parameters set
o Translate the requirements under the signed project agreements into the wider business operation, ensure a good handover to the project manager and financial administration in order to make sure that the requirements under the signed project agreements are adhered to
o Provide property advice to the Project teams
o Develop positive relationships with landowners, landowner’s solicitors and agents to maintain existing opportunities and seek new opportunities through network of contacts
o Manage the property transaction process within the framework of the overall project programme
o Liaise with in-house solicitors and external legal firms and agents
o Maintain an awareness of market rates, trends and influencing factors and devise a strategy to ensure our commercial offering is competitive in the market and appropriate returns are delivered
o Ensure internal approvals are obtained for all property documents
o Develop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment and demonstrate a strong leadership in health and safety
o Support the development of their skills by CPD and other studies
o Management of Origination CRM database
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
The Senior Estates Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all land and property matters in accordance with the internal parameters set and securing the property rights for the projects through to FID
Key role in identifying future project opportunities and signing up new projects (UK wide)
Assisting in M&A due diligence activities helping to assess RtB projects that come to the market
Proven experience, ideally with minimum 10 years’ experience in real estate management within the UK
Experience within renewable energy, particularly wind.
Excellent understanding of both English and Scottish legal agreements for renewable energy projects
Excellent knowledge of commercial terms and HoTs as applicable in the renewable energy industry
Excellent knowledge of bid submissions and winning tenders is advantageous
Good understanding of the different enabling acts that promote DCO and CPOs in the UK
Experience aiding in the production of statutory compliant Books of Reference
Excellent understanding of His Majesty’s Land Registry, Registers of Scotland and the General Register of Sasines
A clear communicator who can partner multidisciplinary teams, in-house and externally to have the impact we need to deliver our ambitious goals
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.
Required: a Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline (e.g. Estate Management) or related experience. Master’s or higher a plus.
The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience and hold MRICS status in either general practice, minerals, energy, infrastructure or rural. RTPI is also advantageous but not essential
