Legal Counsel


Location - Edinburgh


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our team and contribute to the success of our renewable energy projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and innovative industry, supporting projects across the UK and collaborating with international teams.

⚡ You’ll play an important role in:

Legal Advisory for Renewable Energy Projects

  • Analysing legal risks and negotiating:

    • Property agreements (e.g., option & lease agreements) and managing property portfolios.

    • M&A contracts (e.g., Share Purchase Agreements, Shareholders' Agreements).

    • Financing documentation for project finance.

    • Supply and construction contracts (e.g., EPC, Balance of Plant contracts).

    • Power purchase agreements and public tender contracts for Contract for Difference (CfD).

    1. Managing corporate matters for approximately 20 subsidiaries, including reorganisations.

    2. Monitoring regulatory compliance related to environmental, energy, and planning law

Enhancing Legal Processes and Collaboration

  • Developing and delivering training and tools for operational teams to ensure their understanding of legal and risk management.

    1. Drafting and maintaining contract templates via an internal “legal library.”

    2. Establishing and refining legal guidelines for the group, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.

    3. Managing external legal advisors efficiently.

💡 To succeed in the role, you’ll need:

  • Qualification in English and/or Scottish law.

    1. 5-7 years of experience as a business lawyer.

    2. Proven expertise in business law, particularly in M&A, property law, corporate law and/or project finance.

    3. Experience in renewable energy operations will be prioritised.
