Electrical Systems Engineer - Offshore Wind

Ventus is working with a leading offshore wind developer, to appoint an Electrical Systems Engineer for its Edinburgh Team.
Main Accountabilities:
Electrical power systems lead for the electrical system modelling design
Apply the UK grid code to the power system design
Manage specification writing and consultancy work scopes with associated delivery review for power system study requirements for the offshore windfarm to grid connection
Support the development of Engineering tender requirements for electrical equipment.
Work with electrical cable, plant and wind farm engineers as well as electrical protection and control system engineers during design stages
Work within a multidisciplinary engineering design team and be able to explain complex power system models and results to the team to progress the design
Support the Electrical Engineering Manager with monthly design reviews, power systems-related decision making, engineering risk management, budgeting and programme
Support the Grid Manager in regular engagements with NESO/SSEN to address interaction issues, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Support the Grid/Regulation managers in assessing and responding to regulatory and policy changes.
Support project technical engineering meetings with other engineering stakeholders both internally and externally.
Requirements:
Bachelor or Masters in Electrical Engineering or similar degree experience
Experienced power systems engineer modelling both wind turbine generator and transmission systems
Experienced power system analyst modelling with software tools for static and dynamic studies for generation systems connecting to the GB grid
Understanding and application of the GB grid code and modelling standards for connection of offshore generators to the GB grid.
Understanding of GB grid regulatory frameworks and policy change mechanisms.
Have experience of working with OEMs in relation to modelling requirements for grid code compliance.
Have a good understanding of relevant standards applicable to primary electrical plant for modelling purposes
Have knowledge and practical experience of using modelling tools such as DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSSE, PSCAD for example
Experience of application of CDM to projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Detail oriented and systematic approach to design
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Power Point and Word
