Ventus is working with a leading offshore wind developer to appoint a qualified, energetic Land Surveyor to take a supporting role in developing out their pipeline of projects.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage and support the projects external land agent to negotiate and secure full land rights for the onshore infrastructure associated with offshore wind farms and provide all documentation necessary for Development Consent Order (DCO) applications and or application to the relevant Local Planning Authority (LPA).

  • Manage relationships with internal and external project stakeholders including commercial and legal advisers.

  • Support the development and delivery of the projects land rights strategies including the use of statutory powers and compulsory acquisition.

  • Review and provide advice and recommendations (including budgetary and commercial) to the projects on all stage land agreements including temporary licenses, heads of terms, option agreements etc.

  • Work closely with Consents and Engineering teams to ensure that proposed acquisition of land rights is aligned with the project design envelope and Environmental Statement to form the basis of a competent DCO application.  This includes alignment between DCO Limits and land plans and works plans.  A similar approach for Planning consent from Local Planning Authorities for non-DCO projects may also be required.

  • Ensure that the projects land obligations are collated, and compliance monitored throughout all preconstruction survey activities.

  • Identify, record and manage risks associated with land assembly and acquisition using the projects risk management systems.

  • Prepare and input to project governance documentation as required to support decision making and approvals.

  • Support in the development, approval and management of budgets for land acquisition throughout the projects lifecycles.

  • Provide regular reporting/updates to the Consent Lead for reporting to internal stakeholders.

 Education and Experience

  • Experience in land acquisition and surveying, in offshore wind projects or linear and/or electrical infrastructure projects (desirable).

  • Excellent and demonstrable interpersonal, communication (oral and written), leadership and team-working skills.

  • Proven self-starter with the ability to work across project teams and lead through influence.

  • Ability to maintain commercial position in relation to agreements being negotiated and minimising project risk as far as possible.

  • Management of budgets and report writing.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to interact well with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Commitment to the delivery of planning consent for projects and relevant experience.
