Managing Quantity Surveyor - Onshore Renewables

Ventus is thrilled to be working with an onshore renewables developer to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor. The role would be reporting to their Construction Director and is a great opportunity to be a part of the construction and commercial management of large scale onshore renewables projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the commercial function within the construction phase of a project to maximise the target margins incorporated into the annual Business Plan.

  • In conjunction with the project team, manage the tender process for the construction phase consultants, contractors and suppliers and provide tender reports and recommendations to the management board for further detailed contract negotiation and placement.

  • Manage the preparation of contract documents for major suppliers and contractors including going through legal due diligence and financial close.

  • Management of valuations, payments, claims, settlement of Final Accounts and any other commercial matters which may arise during the construction phase of a project.

  • Liaison with the project team to resolve any other matters which may arise with a commercial implication for the project including those relating to land, planning, technical, finance, services and sales contracts.

  • Carry out development and construction phase project management if required.

  • Contribute to the assessment, review and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks within the project management framework.

  • Support the M & A team as required with construction commercial assistance and expertise.

  • Carry out the commercial function with health and safety remaining a top priority at all stages.

  • Manage key relationships with the aim of minimising disputes and finding mutually acceptable outcomes for all stakeholders.

  • Ensure the management board is immediately made aware of any unexpected key risk issues which may arise during the construction phase of a project.

  • Assist, where appropriate, with the development of a diverse and rounded team to support succession planning and talent development.

  • Promote the wellbeing of your colleagues.

  • Be an integral part of the senior management team attending, reporting and contributing to management board and other senior meetings as and when required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in quantity surveying or similar construction commercial qualification.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior construction commercial management role.

Desirable

  • Client-side experience in the renewables or other development sectors.
