Offshore Consent Manager

Ventus is working with a leading offshore wind developer, to appoint a Offshore Consent Manager for their team.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for obtaining the necessary permits and consents for offshore wind farm projects, ensuring compliance with UK marine and environmental regulations.

  • Ensure all aspects of the project comply with relevant legislation, including the Marine and Coastal Access Act, The Planning Act, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations, and other UK environmental and marine protection laws.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with statutory bodies, regulatory authorities (e.g., Marine Management Organisation, Crown Estate), environmental groups, and other key stakeholders. Manage consultations and engagement with local communities, government bodies, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of EIAs and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), working closely with environmental consultants to assess the impact of the wind farm on marine ecosystems and coastal environments.

  • Identify potential risks related to the consenting process and develop mitigation strategies to address potential delays or challenges that may arise from environmental or legal concerns.

  • Manage the preparation and submission of consent applications, including necessary documentation, technical reports, and environmental assessments. Ensure accurate and timely submission of all documents to regulatory authorities.

  • Manage external consultants, ensuring that environmental studies, surveys, and assessments meet the necessary legal and technical standards. Oversee the work of legal advisors for consent-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Marine Engineering, Environmental Law, or related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is desirable.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in consenting, environmental management, or project management, preferably within the offshore wind, energy, or marine sectors.

  • Proven track record of managing complex consenting processes for large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally in the offshore wind or marine sectors.

  • Familiarity with UK environmental and marine legislation, including EIA and HRA processes.

  • Strong understanding of the UK planning and consenting regime, including marine and environmental regulations.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
