Costa Concordia and other Special Projects
FoundOcean has consulted on and undertaken a number of custom projects globally where their specialist services and expertise has been essential. In each of these, they have applied their grouted solutions to a range of projects including repairing a palace sea-wall in the Middle East, protecting the Haenam to Chesu power cable with a continuous formwork, and building the formwork bank to stabilise the Costa Concordia.
The salvage operation of the Costa Concordia is one of the largest custom projects FoundOcean have consulted on, where they built the formwork bank to stabilise the cruise liner. Their expertise was critical as they applied a combination of thorough planning and project management, skilled and safety-conscious personnel, innovative mixing equipment and meticulous quality assurance testing to this project.
As a result, FoundOcean won the prestigious “Designed in Thames Valley” Award at the Institute of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) Regional Awards due to their involvement in the project.
