Offshore Environmental and Consents Manager - Offshore Wind

Ventus is working with a leading Edinburgh-based Offshore Wind developer to appoint a Offshore Environmental and Consents Manager to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delivery of the offshore consents and licensing requirements agreements, working with the Environment and Consents Lead, and wider team.

  • Lead on provision of technical environmental and consenting guidance (offshore), as well as support and oversight in the assessment, development, and execution phase.

  • Prepare and manage consenting plans.

  • Implement and update the offshore consenting strategy and manage budgets in assessment, development, and execution phase.

  • Prepare scope of work documents and reviewing of technical documents relating to consenting activities.

  • Manage relations with relevant external service providers within existing and to come service agreements.

  • Identify consenting risks and develop mitigation plans for key risks for design, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

  • Oversee the delivery of surveys and studies required to support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).

  • Identify and own relationships with key stakeholders (consulting bodies, statutory authorities, and key consultees) to support offshore consenting requirements.

  • Build strong relationships with project team, particularly Engineering and Grid, to ensure environmental and consenting requirements are embedded in design.

  • Ensure key project development documentation, such as commitment register, programme, risk register, etc. are kept up to date.

Requirements:

  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to complex consenting / environmental issues. 

  • Demonstrable experience working within renewable energy or environmental consultancy, with a clear focus on project consenting and development, taking projects through the consenting process.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience.

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (such as marine biology, environmental science, engineering, planning, geography, law).

  • HRA experience highly desirable.

  • Ability to engage with, empathise with, and manage stakeholders.
