SHEQ Specialist - Renewable Developer (Glasgow/Edinburgh)

About the role
You will support the business in all aspects of day-to-day Operational and Project Site SHEQ management, looking at Onshore Wind (operational/construction), Solar PV (operational/ construction).
You will be responsible for delivering to set SHEQ targets based upon an ever-changing work environment.
You will be responsible for conducting audits of both internal & subcontractor activities (covering site surveys, construction work and electrical and mechanical maintenance, LV, HV, DC & AC).
You will be required to review audit findings with the Project Managers and support closure of action items.
You will be required to carry out investigations into any hazardous observations/near misses or incidents that may occur on any of the projects, reporting findings and monitoring corrective actions.
You will support the SHE aspects of the Integrated Management System; including but not – policy and procedure development and roll out, incident management, SHE risk management, SHE training and audit activities; with specific support on SHE management related to Construction, Electrical Safety, Wind and Solar PV operations.
Role Responsibilities
A strong Health and Safety background, with minimum NEBOSH Cert qualification (or equivalent); and at least 3 years of Safety Management experience.
Strong interpersonal skills together with demonstrable understanding and experience of process safety and an appreciation of Solar PV and Wind Generation, including operational management requirements.
Experience in renewables or construction; and have proven knowledge and understanding of the basics of Health and Safety management required to operate an accredited ISO management system.
A high level of customer and service orientation and a strong willingness to learn and develop yourself.
Ability to work under pressure, a strong organiser, able to prioritise workload and multitask. Ability to solve problems systematically and have an analytical and structured way of working.
Be a team player with good communication skills and with the ability to work independently.
Willingness to occasionally be part of escalation team to deal with out of hours emergency events.
An appreciation of, interest in, or preferably a holder of a qualification in environmental management. A willingness to undertake quality management training, or preferably to have a quality management qualification.
A willingness to get stuck into the variety of SHEQ programmes that will be part of your day to day.
