SHEQ Specialist - Renewable Developer (Glasgow/Edinburgh)

About the role

  • You will support the business in all aspects of day-to-day Operational and Project Site SHEQ management, looking at Onshore Wind (operational/construction), Solar PV (operational/ construction).

  • You will be responsible for delivering to set SHEQ targets based upon an ever-changing work environment. 

  • You will be responsible for conducting audits of both internal & subcontractor activities (covering site surveys, construction work and electrical and mechanical maintenance, LV, HV, DC & AC). 

  • You will be required to review audit findings with the Project Managers and support closure of action items.

  • You will be required to carry out investigations into any hazardous observations/near misses or incidents that may occur on any of the projects, reporting findings and monitoring corrective actions. 

  • You will support the SHE aspects of the Integrated Management System; including but not – policy and procedure development and roll out, incident management, SHE risk management, SHE training and audit activities; with specific support on SHE management related to Construction, Electrical Safety, Wind and Solar PV operations.

 Role Responsibilities

  • A strong Health and Safety background, with minimum NEBOSH Cert qualification (or equivalent); and at least 3 years of Safety Management experience. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills together with demonstrable understanding and experience of process safety and an appreciation of Solar PV and Wind Generation, including operational management requirements. 

  • Experience in renewables or construction; and have proven knowledge and understanding of the basics of Health and Safety management required to operate an accredited ISO management system.

  • A high level of customer and service orientation and a strong willingness to learn and develop yourself. 

  • Ability to work under pressure, a strong organiser, able to prioritise workload and multitask.  Ability to solve problems systematically and have an analytical and structured way of working. 

  • Be a team player with good communication skills and with the ability to work independently.

  • Willingness to occasionally be part of escalation team to deal with out of hours emergency events.

  •  An appreciation of, interest in, or preferably a holder of a qualification in environmental management.  A willingness to undertake quality management training, or preferably to have a quality management qualification. 

  • A willingness to get stuck into the variety of SHEQ programmes that will be part of your day to day.
